Despite their brief existence 1998-2001, the team made a significant impact on the league, culminating in winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2001 for having the league’s best regular-season record.
The Fusion were known for their exciting style of play and for bringing international attention to soccer in South Florida. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties and challenges with stadium infrastructure, the team was dissolved after the 2001 season, leaving a legacy of what could have been in the hearts of their passionate fan base.
